Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is original, unpublished, and is not under review at another journal.
  • It is written in clear academic English and includes an informative abstract, keywords, and current Mathematics Subject Classification codes.
  • The TeX source is included, together with the bibliography and every figure or asset needed to compile it.
  • Every accountable author is listed, the corresponding author is identified, and all authors have approved the submission.
  • Funding, competing interests, related manuscripts, preprints, and any substantive use of AI tools are disclosed.
  • Data, code, ethics approvals, permissions, and image-integrity information are included wherever they are relevant to the work.

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Convex Analysis publishes original research in English that advances convex analysis or extends its applications. There are no submission fees and no page charges.

What we consider

Theoretical work in convex analysis and its applications, including variational analysis, optimization, optimal control, nonsmooth analysis, generalized differentiability, set-valued functions, partial differential equations, geometry, and mathematical economics.

Only unpublished work can be considered, and the manuscript must not be under review elsewhere. Posting a preprint does not count as publication; tell us where it sits.

Preparing the manuscript

Manuscripts are prepared in TeX. Submit the source together with a readable PDF, the bibliography, and every figure or asset needed to compile it. Follow the structure and typographic conventions of recent papers in the journal.

Include an informative abstract, keywords, and current Mathematics Subject Classification codes. The abstract should be readable on its own: it is what appears in Scopus, Web of Science, zbMATH and Mathematical Reviews, and it is how most readers decide whether to open the paper.

What to declare

State funding and competing interests. Identify related manuscripts, preprints, and any permissions you needed. Where relevant to the work, describe the availability of data and code, and any ethics approvals.

Disclose any substantive use of AI tools, saying what the tool did. Tools are not authors: every author listed must be a person who can answer for the work.

Authorship

List every author who is accountable for the work, identify the corresponding author, and confirm that all authors have approved the submission. Changes to the author list after submission need a written explanation from all authors.

After Submission

Every submission first receives an editorial assessment. Manuscripts that pass it are sent to independent specialists in the field. You will be told the decision by email, with the reports.

Mathematics takes the time it takes, and a careful referee report on a long proof is not a fast job. We will tell you if a review is running late rather than leave you guessing.

After acceptance

Accepted papers are published at journalofconvexanalysis.com, where every volume since 1994 is free to read. Final formatting is completed by the publisher, and you will see proofs before publication.
